SILO FACILITY
There exists a silo next to the public port facilities with a grain capacity of 30,000 mt Discharge may be made directly thru suctioners placed into the ship's holds. Grain is then shipped to the silo thru a long conveyor belt. About 4,000 mt/day discharging rate can be achieved at this pier.
ECOPETROL MARINE TERMINAL
The "Pozos Colorados" terminal for tankers is located 5 miles southwest of Santa Marta. Vessels are moored to two mooring bouys and liquid cargo is pumped thru underwater piping leading to shore storage tanks.
CARBOANDES COAL FACILITY
This facility is located inside the public terminal premises, and coal loading takes place atanchorage, about 0.7 miles from shore loading site. Coal is transported alongside the ship by way of 4 barges of 1,200 mt each with tugboat assistance. Loading takes place by mean of floating crane (Cooper T. Smith) at a rate of about 8,000 mt/da/shinc, which is the same rate able to be supplied alongside by shipper's barges. No loa/beam/height restriction exist. Draft at loading site is about 60 feet S.W.
