Located 1 mile NW of breakwater. Pilot boarding is compulsory and is available 24 hours a day.
DRAFT AT RIVER ENTRANCE
Approximately 29 ft. F.W. actual draft must be consulted periodically, as draft varies according to silting and dredging operations.
DRAFT AT PUBLIC PIERS
Varies between 26 and 31 ft. fresh water. Public terminal located at 12.2 miles approx. from Magdalena river mouth. Navigation channel width in front of public terminal is 400 meters.

PRIVATE BERTHS


CARBONES DEL CARIBE
Length of pier 150 meters, consisting of 4 dolphins. Draft along the pier 29 feet F.W. Air draft 12 meters. loading rate about 8.000 mt/day shinc by way of a conveyor belt protruding about 80 meters into the river and perpendicular to the river side
ATLANTIC COAL
Located just next to the public terminal. Pier consists of 3 dolphins with a maximum length of 196 meters. Draft alongside the pier is about 29 feet F.W. Loading takes place by way of conveyor belt at a rate of 10.000 mt/day shinc. Maximum air draft 16 meters. Stockpiling capacity at the yard is about 40.000 mt. Loading could also take place bt mean of a shore crane able to load about 2.000 mt/day/shinc; if a combined loading ( conveyor belt + shore crane ) is used, shippers are able to achieve about 4.000 mts/shinc/day.

Remarks:There are a few other private berths at the port of Barranquilla handling other cargoes different than coal: information is available on request. Also is important to bear in mind that the public terminal became a private Port Society and some of the private berths are able to operate cargo operations from third parties. Tariffs and regulations at these private berths will be available on request
